Nexus Mech is a consulting company founded by two mechanical engineers and PhDs with a passion for all things innovation. The goal is not merely to offer engineering consulting services, but to provide clients with comprehensive support, facilitating the search for suppliers of specific components, prototyping, and industrial-scale production. All of this is made possible through a network built over time, connecting both the scientific-academic world and the industrial sector.

In addition to offering our engineering expertise, gained both in the academic field as researchers and in the industrial sector as engineers and project managers, we provide our partners and clients with reliability, integrity, and transparency. To ensure the highest level of protection and to prevent any potential issues, we always recommend the signing of confidentiality agreements (NDAs) as well as collaboration and supply contracts.

What we do

Mechanical design from scratch

Shaping your ideas, together.

At Nexus Mech, we position ourselves as your technical partner for the development of your solutions, starting from your initial inputs such as hand sketches or simple project specifications. We collaborate with you in defining your product, fully involving you through CAD modeling, carrying out both preliminary analyses and detailed studies.

Our experience in CAD mechanical design, gained in various sectors such as automotive, medical, prosthetics, hydraulics, and pharmaceuticals, allows us to provide you with targeted and competent support. We operate on very different scales, from the creation of millimeter-sized components to complex structures measuring in the order of meters, and from single components to entire systems made up of multiple parts.

Analytical sizing, FEM analysis, and validation

A safe and durable product.

By leveraging our knowledge of structural analysis through both analytical methods and the finite element method (FEM), we support you in sizing your components to ensure a product with the correct safety factor. We analyze the operating conditions of your product, either for you or together with you, develop the analytical or FEM model starting from your drawing or ours, and perform the structural analysis until reaching an optimal result for the functionality of the product itself.

Do you have dimensional or material constraints in your project? Through our structural analyses, we work to find the right shapes, staying within the defined boundaries, to guarantee a product that is suitable and safe for its intended use.

Do you already have defined shapes but freedom in material choice? Using the developed structural models, we carry out multiple evaluations until we converge on a material that meets all requirements.

Rapid prototyping with 3D printing

Bring your ideas to life.

Struggling to visualize the real size and shape of your product from a CAD drawing? Do you want to carry out an assembly test to understand the available maneuvering space within your system—without producing the component using the final technology and material, and avoiding high prototyping costs?

At Nexus Mech, we offer to produce your prototypes with our FDM and SLA 3D printers. If you don’t yet have a model ready for printing, we can create it for you, optimizing the print so you can perform the visual and assembly checks you need, while at the same time avoiding unnecessary details that are not essential at your current stage of product development.

Carbon fiber composite materials

Lighter components.

Do you want to develop a product that is lightweight, rigid, and—why not—also aesthetically appealing? At Nexus Mech, we have extensive experience in the mechanical design of components made from carbon fiber and glass fiber composites.

When designing components with these materials, you are not only designing the parts themselves but also the materials, by optimizing the number of carbon layers and the fiber orientations.

At Nexus Mech, we offer the development of your components with a complete, end-to-end service: CAD mechanical design, optimization of the layup sequence through a design of experiments approach, design and manufacturing of molds, and direct production of your components. In addition, we provide material characterization to support the certification of your products.

Suitable and high-quality products

Thanks to our experience across multiple fields, we have built a broad and reliable network of suppliers, both in Italy and abroad.

Do you need standard components for hydraulics and pneumatics, such as plugs with O-rings, ED seals, sealing nuts, or valves? Do you require medical components that comply with current regulations? Are you looking for suitable materials for your applications? We identify the right components for you and source products with an excellent quality-to-price ratio. We rely only on partners we know can guarantee quality.

We also manage the procurement of the components you need, optimizing delivery times to help you avoid production delays.

Foundry processes, machining, and heat treatments

Industrialize your product.

Thanks once again to the network of companies we have built over the years—working in different fields even before the foundation of Nexus Mech—we can offer you the service of sourcing suppliers for the production of components obtained through casting, sintering, forging, machining by chip removal, surface and heat treatments, and much more, whether in steel, cast iron, or aluminum.

If the supplier is abroad, we can manage the import process for you, leveraging the export executives of our partner companies.

We establish agreements with suppliers so that any defective components can always be refunded. In addition, we schedule the production of your components on your behalf to help you avoid production downtime.

Quality control

Products with no issues

In the service we offer at Nexus Mech, we can also include quality control. Even though the supplier we propose already provides quality control before your products leave their facilities, we can perform an additional validation check for you: measuring surface roughness, thickness, and hardness. We can carry out these checks directly at your site, avoiding additional processes that could affect production time and costs.

Dedicated tooling

Perfect cavities for your valves.

Do you want to design a hydraulic or pneumatic manifold that integrates multiple valves? At Nexus Mech, we can support you through every stage of the process.

We start with the definition of the hydraulic/pneumatic diagram: this can either be developed together with you, or you can provide us with one directly. From this foundation, we move on to developing your hydraulic manifold, while at the same time identifying the most suitable valves to ensure efficiency and reliability.

Once this phase is completed, we proceed with the CAD design of the manifold, followed by the creation of detailed technical drawings. In parallel, we work on identifying qualified suppliers who can guarantee a high quality-to-price ratio, ensuring competitive solutions on the market.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to manufacture the manifold yourself but do not have the proper tools, we can provide our support along with that of our partners. In this way, we can assist you in the design and production of custom-shaped tools, essential to obtain a hydraulic manifold with the desired functional characteristics, while minimizing pressure losses and leakages.
